A primary function of Top Teams is to set and communicate strategic intent and to provide a clear role model.

Strategy implies 'purpose' and 'direction', both of which constitute powerful motivators when they are communicated and understood. Yet, all too often the clarity of understanding diminishes with distance from the boardroom. A recent survey from the Cranfield School of Management found that 68% of Top Team managers in Britain say there is an understanding of the main issues within the organisation, whilst 70% of senior managers say there is not.

In such circumstances it is tempting to treat only the symptoms - patchy motivation, poorly focused projects or dysfunctional activities. The AXIS approach is to look at the whole picture, involving all parties in developing more effective channels of communication and an understanding of the core issues.

Our consultancy and facilitation service is primarily aimed at Top Teams and senior managers, concerned as it is with the development and interpretation of strategy. This work is often undertaken in support of a major programme of organisational or cultural change and may involve AXIS working alongside managers, helping them to interpret needs and respond with actions aimed at producing a culture of commitment rather than compliance.

This service is frequently a precursor to the delivery of training and development programmes, designed in support of the strategic intent.
